Short Stories

Poet's Corner

We have all kinds of verse here. For instance, we think this short limerick from Mike Barrett will get 'ye ta' grinnin'...

A Limerick From A Well Known Scotsman

There was a small blue alien, 'Prometheus Tim',
Who mined Dilithium Crystals by the Galactic Rim.
He didn't like being blue, but as he sadly knew,
"You just canne' change the Laws of Physics, Jim!"

- Mike Barrett, 1995, Leeds, U.K.

Crazy for Haiku

Sometimes, we can tell a person by their writing. This is usually the case of Haiku. But be aware, many a Haiku writer has assumed a persona. It's fun however, and as you'll see, we have some early entries, which like most Haiku seem to be utterly simplistic. But wait! Look deeper and see what you can see. Now I am sounding like the Monk admonishing "Grass Hopper" in Kung Fu! Note that we are not religious in our acceptance of prose offered as Haiku. After all the style is said by some to be a "free expression" art form even though it is usually viewed within a set of limiting style attributes. However, we choose to let images form and thoughts attract each other like so much mercury. Why get in the way with tiresome analysis and dissection.
