THE LIGHT

By Lisa Sutter

Once, not too long ago, I lived in darkness,
My soul cried endlessly for help.
The pain that swept through it daily was so intense,
The tears frequently ran.

Depression had robbed me of my joy
and colored my outlook on life a dull grey.
My hope too was gone.

I wanted to end the pain
no matter what the cost
Even if it meant playing God
It seemed like such a small price to pay
My life for freedom from the pain.

But then Jesus reached down and held my wounded soul
close to His heart.
He whispered words of comfort and tears of compassions
ran down his cheeks
He whispered "My child, cast your cares onto me. I understand and will help
you through this."

Now, my soul is very different.
Rather than weep in sing the praises of Jesus and desires to do His will
The darkness has been replaced by a bright light.
A light that will never flicker or fade.

Jesus will give this light to anyone who is willing to accept it.
The light is His love and it is the only thing
that can and will bring back the joy and peace.
Just as it has for me.

Thank you Jesus for the light of your unending, unconditional love.
